We’re proud of Heather, a manager at Martina’s Flowers and Gifts in Augusta, Georgia (pictured below on the far right with her children) who recently participated in a campaign to draw attention to local small businesses.  Brian McCarthy, who spoke at The White House on small business and health care reform in 1994, is a major supporter of American small business.  As the President and CEO of the nation’s largest group of florists, he continually boosts local small businesses by freely sharing advise and tips with other industry professionals at national and international conferences within the floral industry.

The Eagle’s Nest, NEW Restaurant at Bloody Point Golf and Country Club

A Recent note to Brian McCarthy confirms our expectations about quality and creative cuisine at the much anticipated opening of The Eagle’s Nest, our new restaurant at Daufuskie Island, SC.

Brian, Dianne and I had lunch at the restaurant today. ( I was out of the state yesterday!). It was terrrific! I am pretty critical when it comes to food, but our meals were outstanding. The flavors were well beyond the norm and every part of the meal was top drawer. We had the lamb burger and the Brian McHearty. The chips were over the top. I know I picked up at least three pounds!  Also, it was run very efficiently and was very welcoming. The entire crew did a great job. Congratulations. Regards, Tony

This eagle and its mate make their home on Daufuskie Island, SC.  The pair, whose nest on Bloody Point, is believed to have had over 20 offspring over the years.

Bloody Point Golf and Country Club, Revitalization Has Begun

     Bloody Point Golf and Country Club, the 18 hole course planned by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, was established in 1989 and is now undergoing an aggressive and exciting reinvention by the visionary and diverse company The McCarthy Group.

      With the major focus currently on the restaurant, slated to open soon, Chef Steven Santos (who served as sous chef at Garrisons of Atlanta) has relocated to Daufuskie Island, SC. to spearhead the project.  A diverse menu is in the works as Cesar Torres, designer and interior stylist from Jennie’s Flowers in Tampa, Florida, adds his unique flair to the decor of the eatery which is slated to be named “McCarthy’s Pub”.

The pool, which is part of the Country Club, has just received a bright new polishing, which is sure to make it an inviting attraction when the club opens.
